This is a pretty tough itinerary that will take you to an altitude of over 2000 m through sites of remarkable natural and cultural heritage!

Description

From Modane, follow the signs forAussois. You're on a wide road, but cars are going quite fast because the road is not very busy.
Road condition: Good
Drinking water points: Village fountains, in Modane and at the end of the road. Aussois
Eating and drinking places along the route: Several restaurants in Modane and Modane. Aussois
Nearest repair point: Sports store in Modane

Natural heritage on the route :
- Le rocher des Amoureux, a major climbing spot in the Maurienne.
- Saint-Benoît waterfall (80 m high)
- Vanoise National Park

Cultural heritage :
- The village center ofAussois and its Baroque church are listed as "Monuments historiques".
- The Esseillon forts are also listed as "Monuments historiques".

Places to visit:
- In Modane: Le Muséobar (history of the border), la Rizerie (Lyon Turin railway exhibition), le Carré Sciences du Laboratoire Sous-terrain de Modane. The Saint-Gobain Fort (Maginot Line)
- At Aussois : The Arche d'Oé museum in the center ofAussois. The Lozes archaeological park. The Savoyard discovery walk at Fort Victor Emmanuel.
