Walk in the Vanoise National Park and sleep in a refuge
The Plan d'Amont parking lot, located near the village ofAussois, is an ideal starting point for exploring the trails of the Vanoise National Park.
Easily accessible to hikers (parking at the dam), this site offers breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains and high altitude lakes. Right from the start, you'll be immersed in a unique Alpine setting: surrounded by the majestic peaks and turquoise waters of the Plan d'Amont and Plan d'Aval dams.
There are many marked trails to choose from: family walks, sporting day hikes or even mountaineering routes. Among the most popular itineraries is the walk to the refuges of la Parrachée or Fond d'Aussois.
The refuges are not manned in autumn, but remain accessible, with a section open to all. This means you can spend the night for a friendly, unusual, high-mountain experience!
For those looking for a more accessible hike, the trail around the Lac du Plan d'Amont is perfect for enjoying the reflection of the mountains in the water.

Departing fromAussois, several mountain bike circuits allow you to discover the natural wealth of the resort, while enjoying the thrills of this activity.
The Fort Marie-Thérèsefor example, with its gentle slopes and panoramic views over the Haute Maurienne Vanoise valley, is an ideal route.
For the more adventurous, the routes leading to the Plan d'Amont and Plan d'Aval dams offer more intense challenges. A little effort on the way up (the lifts are out of action in autumn!), but a lot of fun on the way down. With routes at different levels, such as the blue ofEvita Carnéathe red Moulinator or, for the most experienced riders, the black Les Barrages.
