Base Camp Festival Aussois

Mountain water, source of life and challenges
Base Camp 2025 FestivalAt the summit of the Alps, where glaciers carve valleys and torrents whisper the stories of the living, the Base Camp Festival invites you to delve into a vital and burning theme: water in the mountains.
In a world where every drop counts, water is at once treasure, memory and challenge. For its 3rd edition, the Base Camp Festival offers a 360° exploration of water - through inspiring encounters, poignant documentary films, immersive workshops, outdoor activities, nature walks and artistic performances - to better understand the fundamental role played by water at altitude: from its birth at the summit to its impact on the plains.
A committed, festive event accessible to all publics - mountain enthusiasts, nature lovers, families, experts, dreamers. Together, let's make water a subject for action and wonder. This year, extreme kayak world champion Nouria Newman will open the Festival!
Climate crisis, sustainable management, sporting practices, biodiversity, cultural stories, the murmur of glaciers... Water connects us all. Come and listen to those who follow it, study it, defend it and tell about it.

Why a Base Camp festival in Aussois ?
Launched in 2023, the Base Camp Festival is a continuation of the Cultural Week that has been held in Aussois for decades. It's a Festival that brings together locals and holidaymakers to exchange ideas, organize events and enjoy outings. True encounters and highlights that also explain why we always end up coming back to Aussois once we've discovered the village! Why a "Base Camp" Festival in Aussois ?
The village is the place to be for new discoveries and adventures, and for a host of activities. Easily accessible (freeway and TGV station at Modane, 15 minutes away by car), Aussois is an ideal village-station for setting up base camp. From the village, you can explore the Vanoise National Park, the high mountains (including several peaks over 3,000 m that can be reached without special equipment in summer), the unspoilt wide-open spaces of Haute Maurienne Vanoise and even Italy, just a few kilometers away. This is where the name of the Festival comes from. And every year, it proposes a different theme.
Why the theme of water for 2025?
In Aussois, water is everywhere and is part of the village's history. Water in liquid form with streams, waterfalls and, of course, dams. And water in solid form, with snow for skiing in winter. The theme of water in the mountains highlights an essential and fragile element at the heart of our mountains, biodiversity and Alpine climatic challenges. It's a strong thread, accessible to all, that links nature, culture, ecology and adventure in Aussois.
