whistles, and uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes) of her virtuoso collaborator
Cian McGrory. Whether in Gaelic or English, the powerful narratives of her
ballads carry the soul beyond familiar landscapes; Clare Sands
weaves together the myriad musical currents that nourish her—traditional
Irish sounds and contemporary influences, blues, and jazz—
drawing on the Celtic folklore that has surrounded her since childhood to
