Lozes archaeological park
The archaeological park offers visitors a chance to go back in time, observing the many hundreds of signs left by the people of Aussois from 1000 BC up to the Middle Ages. Educational trail accessible outside the snow period.
Description
Engravings, first discovered in 1977, reveal routes used by humans traveling to Italy between the Neolithic and Iron Ages. The engravings were made on the polished rocks by the ancient Arc Glacier through chiseling or chipping using stone tools.
Two educational trails with information panels have been set up. They help identify and understand the meaning of the engravings.
For better observation highlighting the reliefs and contours, visit in the early morning or evening.
The trail is freely accessible year-round without restrictions. In winter, deep snow may make the path impassable.
