Yesterday's objects, tomorrow's mountains

Aussois
© Exhibition on objects from the past in Aussois - Jean-Luc Viart

To promote local heritage, photographer Jean-Luc Viart has captured the attachment of local people to their mountains through the objects they hold dear. The results are on display at the Aussois communal kiln, and are being added to with a new workshop!

Description

Barillon (hay bag), grolle savoyarde, milk hoses or even walking sticks and clothing, everyone sees in these objects an experience, a memory, a desire.
Photographs taken by Jean-Luc Viart in July 2025 are projected onto the windows of the Aussois communal oven from 5pm.

This event is part of the European Interreg Alcotra 2021-2027 TransiT project, a cross-border partnership between Aussois and Avrieux in France and Bard in Italy. What do they have in common? Their former military forts, which are now giving way to artistic, cultural and heritage projects to bring the mountains to life in a different way! The new "Forts en art" label now promotes them through a varied program. It invites you to discover our mountains in a different way all year round.
